No Increment On JAMB 2026 UTME and Direct Entry Fees: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it has not increased fees for either the UTME or Direct Entry examinations in the last nine years, stressing that registration costs were, in fact, reduced within the period under the current administration.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reassured Nigerians that the cost of registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) is not expected to rise.
According to the Board, fees for both UTME and Direct Entry examinations have remained unchanged for the past nine years. JAMB noted that under the current administration, registration charges were even reduced during that period.
This position was disclosed in JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released on Monday. The Board emphasized that any future review of fees would only occur if it becomes absolutely necessary to maintain the quality, credibility, and integrity of its examination processes.
JAMB explained that its approach aligns with the directive of President Bola Tinubu, communicated through the Minister of Education, which calls on government agencies to adopt a people-centered approach while considering the current economic challenges facing Nigerian households.
The Board said the clarification was intended to help parents and guardians plan effectively for their children’s education, stressing that the cost for the 2026 examination exercise will largely remain the same as in the previous year.
Parents and candidates were advised to prepare early and complete their registration promptly, as JAMB warned that the registration deadline would not be extended once the process begins.
Despite maintaining affordable fees, JAMB stated that it has continued to operate efficiently and responsibly, making significant financial contributions to the Federal Government over the years. The Board said this reflects its commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management.
JAMB reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring fairness, affordability, and adherence to global best practices in the administration of its examinations.
Meanwhile, the Board announced that the sale of forms for the 2026 UTME will begin on Friday, January 31, 2026, and end on Saturday, March 8, 2026.
