BREAKING: JAMB Says No Extension of 2026 UTME Registration Deadline

BREAKING NEWS: JAMB Rules Out Extension of 2026 UTME Registration Deadline

Coming Love from the JAMB main headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated that the registration period for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will close on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and that there will be no extension or deadline shift under any circumstances.

In an official weekly bulletin released on Monday, the examination body warned candidates against waiting until the final days to register; a pattern it says has become recurring and problematic in past JAMB registration cycles.

JAMB expressed concern about the low turnout of candidates at many accredited registration centres at this stage of the exercise, despite the registration having commenced on January 26, 2026 and being scheduled to go on for five weeks.

According to the Board, habitual late registration followed by last-minute calls for extension “will not be entertained” in 2026.

JAMB also accused some individuals and tutorial centre operators of deliberately misleading candidates into delaying registration in a bid to force a deadline extension which is a tactic the Board says it will not compromise on.

JAMB explained that extending the registration period is impracticable because its operational calendar is tightly aligned with those of other national examination bodies.

Any change to the deadline, it said, could disrupt coordinated timelines for subsequent exams and related processes.

Therefore, all JAMB 2026 Candidates have been strongly advised to complete their registration without delay, avoid last-minute rushes, and ignore misinformation about possible deadline changes.
